Job Description:
Economical currently has 3 one year contract Underwriting Assistant positions in our Vancouver branch. Working in the commercial department you will report to the Team Leader and will be accountable for providing superior service in a clerical and underwriting support role to the branch Commercial Insurance Department.

Job Minimum Requirements:

  •     Completed high school diploma and relevant work experience;
  •     Preference will be given to candidates with a post secondary degree or diploma or willingness to complete a CIP designation;
  •     Strong computer skills;
  •     Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in a commercial lines underwriting support role.

Job Duties:
  •     Gathering background information on new commercial business;
  •     Receiving the print and matching to specific files and documents provided by underwriting staff;
  •     Entering and organizing new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations into the commercial insurance systems;
  •     Data entry, coding off-system policies, endorsements, forms, letters;
  •     Maintaining electronic logs and account specific spreadsheets;
  •     Receiving print and matching to specific files and documents provided by underwriting staff;
  •     Ordering and reviewing reports;
  •     Performing various mail and filing duties;
  •     Providing backup reception duties;
  •     General office and other duties as required.
