Job Description:
Reporting to the Team Leader, Casualty Bodily Injury Claims, you are accountable for investigating, evaluating and settling Bodily Injury Claims in accordance with the Laws applicable to the jurisdictions the loss occurred in.

Job Minimum Requirements:

  •     University degree or a college diploma or the CIP designation.
  •     Minimum of 3 years claims handling experience in bodily injury / casualty litigation is preferred.
  •     Mediation, settlement conference, and JDR/ADR experience an asset.

Job Duties:
  •     Securing details of claims by corresponding with claimants, lawyers, investigators, third party adjusters, ISU, etc,  via telephone.
  •     Assessing coverage eligibility.
  •     Reserving files appropriately and timely after assessing claim.
  •     Maintaining detailed file records on an electronic claims system.
  •     Processing payments after confirming settlements and adjusting reserves.
  •     Coordinating the most effective course of action for claims.
  •     Responding  to correspondence in a timely fashion.
  •     Reviewing file material and assessing quantum for injury settlements.
  •     Arranging independent medical assessment when appropriate.
  •     Preparing settlement proposals.
  •     Obtaining medical information necessary for independent medical assessments.
  •     Responding and quantifying settlement proposals.
  •     Preparing, quantifying and taking an active role in JDRs, Examination for discoveries, and Mediations.
  •     Directing defense council on all files.
  •     Directing Independent adjusters, private investigators, SIU, in their efforts to collect information for investigation and quantum purposes.
