Job Description:
Reporting to the Western Region Lines Manager for Casualty and Accident Benefits, you are accountable for the leadership of assigned team members and technical direction to the Claims Representatives relative to performance and efficient handling of all aspects of casualty claims.

Job Minimum Requirements:

  •     Minimum of 5 years' experience handling bodily injury / casualty claims,
  •     Strong technical skills in bodily injury / casualty claims and ability to handle technical issues within the unit.
  •     knowledge of property liability claims would be an asset
  •     Analytical skills to deal with policy, legal and regulatory interpretation and implementation.
  •     Experience with the performance management process.
  •     Demonstrated organizational, negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills are essential.
  •     University degree in any discipline or a college diploma in one of the following programs: (2 year diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college in: Insurance, Law & Security, Loss Control or Business Administration) or the CIP designation.

Job Duties:
  •     Analyzing, developing and implementing an efficient claims system by monitoring delivery systems, procedures and methods to help improve processes and results.
  •     Providing guidance, on-the-job training, technical instructions and direct leadership to assigned staff relative to performance, productivity, personal conduct and adherence to processes and Corporate policies and procedures.
  •     Providing on-going performance feedback and designing development plans when needed.
  •     Completing audits by reviewing and monitoring claims files and providing effective feedback.
  •     Fostering staff development by assisting with the selection of staff, conducting performance evaluations, providing ongoing and effective feedback, identifying training opportunities and keeping staff informed of changes to policies and procedures.
  •     Initiating interviews for vacancies within the unit and making recommendations for new hires.
  •     Resolve demonstrable knowledge, skill and experience to independently manage routine claims and more complex claims through research and recommend courses of action that integrate with following business decisions.
