Within the CITD Faculty Development Services is a faculty led centre committed to helping instructors develop the best teaching and learning practices in the varied learning environments SAIT offers.
The Faculty Development Services unit seeks to be a conduit to showcase faculty expertise and to facilitate the development of teaching excellence. Using a needs-based approach the unit plans and delivers training and development opportunities that align with faculty and academic department needs, while at the same time supporting the achievement of SAIT’s short and longer-term strategic goals.
With the permission of the Dean, the candidate will serve a two year appointment within Faculty Development Services.  At the end of the two year secondment, the candidate will resume his/her original responsibilities and continue to proactively foster teaching excellence within his/her program and school.

Job Requirements:
• Masters Degree or Doctorate in Adult Education, Distance Education, Instructional Technology or Instructional Design
• Five years teaching and/or faculty development facilitation experience in a post-secondary learning environment
• At least three years direct experience developing and delivering on-line learning courses/programs
• Experience with learning management systems such as WebCT, D2L, Blackboard etc., in a post-secondary environment preferred
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Good command of written and spoken English

Job Duties:
Reporting to the Director, Centre for Instructional Technology and Development, the incumbent is a senior faculty member responsible for providing leadership and support to the SAIT academic community in developing knowledge of and enhancing application of adult learning principles and selection and application of available tools and technologies in the institute’s programs and services. In particular the individual will:
• Evaluate requirements and then design workshops, seminars, consulting services and tutorials to support all elements of technology-enabled learning, especially Learning Management System faculty training, student response voting tools, synchronous learning tools, etc.
• Collaborate with other CITD units to service the needs of faculty for hands-on technical training and e-learning support
• Promote Teaching Excellence and Curriculum Excellence and the importance of the integration of technology-enabled learning in these strategic initiatives
• Serve on related department and Institute committees and teams to advance SAIT’s e-learning capacity and initiatives
• Participate in the delivery of various faculty development programs (e.g. Curriculum Excellence Foundations, Teaching Excellence Foundations, Instructional Skill Workshops, etc.)
• Support and participate in projects and action research initiatives with instructors, focused on Teaching Excellence and the integration of technology into instructional practice.
• Promote Teaching Excellence and Curriculum Excellence to meet standards of learner engagement and effectiveness
