The instructor’s role is to provide academic leadership that ensures the Process Piping Drafting (PPD) students achieve established learning outcomes to the maximum of their potential.  The instructor is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported, and innovative in nature.  The instructor will be expected to make use of current information and communication technology in the development of course content and its delivery.

Job Requirements:
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in the Mechanical / Process Piping engineering consulting field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Previous teaching experience considered an asset.
• Candidates must have experience in a range of Mechanical / Process Piping disciplines including Design/Dimension/Tolerancing of Machine Components, Schematics, Flow Diagrams/Arrangement Drawings/Isometrics/BOM’s.
• A thorough understanding of specifications and codes.
• An excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD 2012 and Microsoft Office 2007 is essential.
• An excellent working knowledge of relevant mechanical / piping software is required.
• Excellent communication and human relation skills are essential. The ability to convey the conceptual and practical aspects of subjects to students, respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience, and individual learning styles is also essential. Candidates must be committed to working within a team environment and to participating in a consultative decision making process. Additional personal competencies include strong organizational skills and a commitment to ethical behavior.

Successful candidates must provide proof of qualifications. Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized.

Job Duties:
• Know, understand, apply and relate to students the essential facts, concepts, procedures and principles in areas of expertise designated by the curriculum, using a variety of instructional techniques which promote learning and personal development
• Create teaching and learning plans, course outlines, course maps, course content and assessments
• Demonstrate personal interest in the success of the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
• Maintain contact with relevant industry and technical organizations
