Job Purpose:

  • Is responsible to coordinate undergraduate laboratories related to biomechanics, as well as some tasks related psychomotor laboratories, supervises the testing and the adaptation of experiments to the curriculum requirements of the School. 
  • Ensures that the demonstrations and tutorials are current and scientifically and pedagogically sound. 
  • Instructs demonstrators and students in safe working practices in the laboratory environment. 
  • Is responsible for compliance with occupational Health and Safety, and WHMIS legislation by demonstrators.


Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Human Kinetics normally acquired through postsecondary education or equivalent experience 
  • Certification of Exercise Physiologist according to the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology’s (CSEP) and must maintain this certification according to CSEP’s policies throughout the tenure of the position. Certified membership with the Ontario Kinesiology Association can be an alternative to CSEP certification 
  • Knowledge and experience of laboratory protocols and procedures in biomechanics 
  • Experience using computer systems and software such as Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and Internet

Other competencies:

  • Ability to analyze experiments, to identify and to solve problems 
  • Ability to communicate difficult concepts and procedures in a clear and concise manner 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written); to be considered for this position, candidates must be rated at the low-advanced proficiency level or higher for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language. The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute


Note: Temporary assignment or contract until February 27, 2015, with possibility of renewal. Eligibility to benefits and union affiliation will be determined upon hiring
