Office of External Relations - Development Office

Job Purpose:

  • The Manager provides strategic direction to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate a comprehensive fundraising plan designed to maximize revenue generation from corporations and foundations during the largest fundraising campaign in the University of Ottawa’s history. 
  • The Manager identifies and qualifies prospects, crafts plans for prospect cultivation and solicitation, and ensures donor recognition and stewardship. 
  • The Manager is also responsible for raising close to $2 million dollars, and partners with senior University executives to capitalize on advancement opportunities and secure corporate alliances and philanthropic commitments.


Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of fundraising processes, best practices and current industry trends
  • Three to five years of professional corporate fundraising or related experience
  • Experience using fundraising databases (knowledge of Raiser’s Edge an asset)
  • Experience working with volunteers from the private and corporate sectors
  • Experience using software and computer programs such as Windows, word processors, spreadsheets, databases, email and the Internet

Other competencies:

  • Ability to deal with senior executives and officials
  • Proven project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proven negotiation skills, and excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills in English and French
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, with availability for some travel
