Job Requirements:
• University degree, with a minimum of 12-15 years of commercial underwriting experience
• CIP/FCIP preferred
• Mastery of underwriting discipline and knowledge in property commercial insurance and a broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas
• Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across areas of influence
• Strong leadership skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism
• Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility
• Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services

Job Duties:
• Evaluates underwriting performance based on financial analysis. Includes rate, reserve adequacy, operational, planning and product reviews.  Provides results to members of underwriting management team; develops plans to resolve issues.
• Ensures the achievement of continued profitability, growth and/or operational efficiencies
• Conducts research, analysis and development of related products
• Develops and maintains underwriting guidelines and best practices to ensure the integrity of the product line or segment
• Collaborates with business partners in Risk Control, Actuarial, Claims, Operations and Compliance to address governance and compliance issues
• Acts as senior level referral officer for exceptions to strategy, guidelines and authority.
• Provides overall direction for underwriting authority delegation and catastrophe management; conducts audits
• Establishes pricing guidelines
• Overall responsibility for line of business policy wordings and endorsements
• Represents company in regard to line of business re-insurance requirements
• Participates in the development and successful execution of Property business plan
• Develops talent in the field through active coaching and mentoring
• Provides technical training and education to underwriting staff
