Job Requirements:
• CA designation combined with 4-6 years experience in a finance environment, ideally with some experience in Accounting Policy/Advisory or financial governance.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and IFRS.  
• General banking industry knowledge combined with the ability to strategically assess accounting and governance requirements and apply to business in an efficient and effective manner.
• Above average ability to work in a team environment, demonstrating leadership.
• Good working knowledge of software programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organization skills and ability to function well under pressure
• Knowledge of BMO structure, operations and information systems an asset
• Experience in developing and delivering presentations/chairing meetings

Job Duties:
• Provide accounting policy advice, in conjunction with Chief Accountant’s Group (CAG), to P&C Canada lines of business (LOBs) / legal entities (LEs) re: new and ongoing transactions & initiatives, ensuring that solutions comply with regulatory reporting requirements and are effective and efficient for BMO processes.  
• Work with P&C Canada LOBs/LEs to interpret accounting changes identified by CAG, (e.g. transition to IFRS), assess the impact on financial results, and determine/facilitate implementation of required process and control changes.
• Work with P&C Finance and LOBs, CAG and other financial governance functions in BMO to understand financial governance policy, standards and processes, develop effective implementation plans for new/amended requirements, monitor to ensure adherence and escalate any issues as needed.
• Work with CAG and other financial governance functions to ensure appropriateness and value-add to P&C Canada are considered when new governance policies, standards or processes are being developed and implemented.
• Ensure Corporate messages regarding Accounting Policy changes and Financial Governance requirements are communicated in a timely and effective manner to all affected stakeholders and that implications are clearly understood and adhered to.
• Perform or review certain monthly and quarterly accounting and governance processes (e.g. uncorrected misstatements reporting, attestation letters, sample audit testing, etc).
