Job Description:
Reporting to the Controller, the General Accountant is responsible for assisting with the monthly closing of the Company’s financial statements, and for independently closing the financial statements for various Company subsidiaries.

This is new role and an exciting opportunity for a dynamic accounting professional to take the next career development step. The successful candidate will be resourceful, able to work independently to achieve the goals while adding value to the team and the business. 

Job Requirements:

  •    CGA, CMA or CA designation or close to completion.
  •     Degree in Business with a major in accounting is required, together with 3+ years’ experience at an accountant level is desirable.
  •     Proven proficiency with Simply Accounting and Quickbooks.
  •     Excellence in leveraging technology to add value and simplify processes.
  •     Highly efficient in the use of MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
  •     Self-sufficient and self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of the role with minimal supervision.
  •     Highly organised and able to meet tight deadlines.
  •     Proven analytical skills.


Job Duties:
 Company’s Financial Statements

  •     Assists the Controller in the monthly closing of the Company’s financial statements. This may include journal entries, banking and analysis.
  •     Independently closes the monthly and annual financial statements for assigned subsidiaries.

This includes:
  •         Completing regulatory reporting, as required for the subsidiaries, including taxes.
  •         Preparing and posting monthly transactions with supporting documentation.
  •         Performing the full accounts payable cycle, including circulation of all invoices for approval and coding, then entering invoices and processing cheque runs.
  •         Reconciling accounts including investigation and follow up on outstanding items.
  •         Managing the daily banking reports, deposits, wire payments, advances, bank drafts and bank reconciliations.
  •         Reviewing and finalizing results and recommending efficiencies and improvements to management.

 Other:
  •     Undertakes accounting projects and assignments when so required, intended to improve the accounting reporting and/or efficiency within the department.
