Contribute to the achievement  of BDC’s corporate objectives to provide impactful advisory services to Canadian SMEs. In particular, the Director, Business Strategy will provide expertise and lead the deployment of solutions to support SMEs in achieving a more strategic perspective on understanding their current situation and how to progress to the next stage of organizational growth and competitiveness. He/she will have to develop the service offerings, oversee the delivery of mandates nationwide and manage the workflow.

Job Requirements:

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. MBA or professional designation preferred
  •     Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a consulting, leadership/ownership of a SME with strong practical experience.
  •     Expertise in managing a delivery group in a consulting practice and in successfully leading consulting teams throughout the life cycles of complex projects.
  •     A strong business acumen, in order to understand SMEs’ operations and entrepreneurs’ challenges.
  •     Strong  understanding of strategic planning/coaching methodology & practices
  •     Action/Implementation oriented
  •     Strong time management and organizational skills
  •     Strong teamwork skills and ability to foster relationships with internal and external customers.
  •     Collaborative and pragmatic orientation with the ability to draw quick insights for a wide variety of industry sectors.
  •     Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  •     Ability to make presentations in a clear and professional manner
  •     Bilingual (French/English)
  •     Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Job Responsibilities:
  •     Lead the development, continuous improvement and deployment of standardized and custom solutions that help maximize the value to our clients resulting in a high level of client satisfaction.
  •     Manage a team of internal consultants by establishing appropriate objectives, providing feedback and opportunities for skills development and career progression.
  •     Implement appropriate quality control, risk assessment and continuous improvement in the management of the project portfolio.
  •     Identify, train and develop external consultants/partners to deliver mandates in accordance with BDC policies and guidelines regarding quality standards, pricing and delivery.
  •     Actively promote and represent BDC Consulting within BDC in a professional manner, and support business development by working closely with internal colleagues to promote a strong pipeline of consulting services and new opportunities.
  •     As the Subject Matter Expert, represent BDC at external events and in various other situations as opportunities occur.
  •     Keep abreast of evolving trends in strategic thinking that is relevant to SME’s and leverage this knowledge to continuously evolve the offering.
  •     Develop and maintain relationships with other organizations to complement BDC’s value proposition to help Canadian SMEs develop and become more competitive.
