Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and control the daily activities of Building Automation Technicians in Edmonton
  • Manage assigned projects as needed
  • Reinforce and insure all Technician are following Siemens Standards
  • Coach, motivate and ensure best performance from an assigned team of Solutions Technicians to ensure productivity and efficiency levels are achieved in line with set targets.
  • Ensure that all overtime is for productive work only, ( i.e. the overtime has been priced for in the service contract and/or is chargeable to the customer.)
  • Utilize qualifications and talents of the team to the fullest.
  • Arrange appropriate training and ensure maximum opportunities are given to Technicians to develop further skills..
  • Work with the Dispatcher to make weekly work planning and organize tools, equipment or materials as needed.
  • Advise on equipment required and timescales for replacement parts following service visits and ensure no return visits on same problem.
  • Continually review customer needs/demands to allocate and optimise the activities of Service Technicians accordingly (i.e. maintenance visits, repairs, training, demonstrations, etc.)
  • Visit Technicians on site and ensure required quality and standards are achieved, in accordance with the customers' requirements and the Company's quality assurance procedures and technical directives
  • Liase with Sales Team and Account Engineers to support the quotation process and maximize opportunities and the conversion rate for the award of system upgrades and system extensions/modifications.
  • Review all new service contracts and warranty files prior to acceptance and assign preferred Technicians. Ensure transferred files are in-line with QA standards and Handover procedures.
  • Ensure all the necessary information/documentation (works reports, timesheets, etc) is provided by the Technicians to be recorded in SAP at the earliest date.
  • Organize emergency coverage for the duties of the Service Technician during a breakdown, to customer requirements. Provide or organize emergency coverage for the remote support function (where applicable), to meet customer requirements.

Job Requirements:
  •     Strong Mechanical background, strong HVAC, Instrumentation experience required, ideally 10 years of Siemens Building Automation experience
  •     Proven mentoring, supervisor experience preferred, 2-3 years ideally
  •     Must be proficient in common PC business applications such as Microsoft Office Suite
  •     Programming and networking experience would be an asset, Basic UNIX, MCSE Certs ideal
  •     Must have strong communication skills both written & verbal in English
  •     A valid driver's license with a clean abstract is required
  •     College/Technical School education required, combination or equivalent practical experience needed.
  •     Understanding of the building code as it pertains to Automation.
  •     Ability to travel up to 25%
