Contract duration:  Approximately thirteen (13) months
Health Services – Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention

Position overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor of the Research, Policy and Planning team in the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention (CDIP) Division, you will consult and provide strategic assistance, research, and policy support to the division and its strategic prioritie.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health Sciences or a relevant discipline combined with at least three (3) years of work experience in a Public Health setting
  • Knowledge of public health, the health system, population health and relevant health policies
  • Experience in evidence informed decision making methodology and project management
  • Demonstrated program planning and evaluation skills
  • Experience in policy development and analysis
  • Strong research (with knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods) and critical appraisal skills


Job Duties:

  • Utilize evidence informed decision making methodology and the public health core competencies framework in your work
  • Assess new and existing public health interventions using techniques such as policy analysis, critical appraisal, and program evaluation
  • Proactively identify policy and program issues/gaps/trends and provide research, data analysis, and critical analysis support to make evidence-informed recommendations
  • Prepare briefings, options papers, and scoping reviews and conduct rapid reviews to support decision making in policy and program development
  • Promote collaborative partnerships across departments and stakeholders
  • Monitor/evaluate municipal, provincial and federal policy decisions
  • Advance the population health approach as it relates to the strategic priority
