Job descriptions:
The instructional designer partners with the training specialist in Sales Force Growth and Development to develop training material that supports the various business initiatives within the Sun Life Financial Career Sales Force. Training deliverables may include web-based, self-paced, or instructor-led training material. This highly creative person will be required to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines, interact and communicate effectively with various levels of management, and use exceptional design and writing skills to create or enhance training material that supports our learners.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Superior writing and editing skills
- Understanding of the instructional design process
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
- Strong questioning and problem-solving skills from both a business and technical perspective
- Excellent understanding of adult learning and online design principles
- Ongoing commitment to quality and exceptional service
- Strong aptitude for technology
- Enjoys learning in a changing, fast-paced environment
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Sound technical writing skills
Assets:
- Adult learning or Instructional Design certification
- In-depth knowledge of the various audiences we support: Career Sales Force, Financial Centre Staff, Allstate, Wholesale
- Working knowledge of Adobe software including Captivate, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Flash
- Familiarity with Sun Life Financial brand and style guide principles
- Bilingual English/French
- Job Duties:
- Develop training materials such as online courses, software simulations, job aids, facilitator or learner guides, audio scripts, PowerPoint presentations, etc. The content is provided by the training specialist who has worked with the subject matter expert to create a detailed content analysis
- Use software products such as Adobe Captivate, Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe Creative suite products, Adobe Acrobat Professional and Microsoft Word to create engaging training and reference material
- Following plain language along with superior grammar and writing skills, write clear and concise content that fully meets the outlined training objectives and the company’s brand standards.
- Ensure the consistency of all methods and materials throughout the design cycle
- Provide quality assurance support of various deliverables to ensure correctness and consistency standards are met
- Assist with training and guidance to other instructional designers as required
