Job Description:
The Maintenance Department Manager of the Medicine Hat Community Housing Society is responsible for the overall management of all matters relating to the maintenance requirements of the Society.
The position is responsible for the effective coordination and management of activities and resources necessary to provide an excellent standard of property maintenance, safety and security for the MHCHS housing portfolio.

Job Requirements:
• Management training and/or 3-5 years business management experience
• Minimum of 5-7 years of practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
o    Asset, Property and / or Construction Project Management
o    Or a minimum of 5 years of direct and practical experience in building operations, repair and general maintenance and the development and or management of residential properties and related systems as well as commercial properties will be considered.
• Building Operator *A* / Millwright / Civil Engineering Technologist Certificate
• Journeyman certificate in related trade with a working knowledge of other trades common to residential structures and / or 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering. (Equivalencies may be considered).
• Solid computer experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel and database software
• Demonstrated ability to manage, supervise and deal effectively with people at all levels
• Strong leadership and team building skills with a strengths based approach
• Sensitive to the dignity of those in need of social housing; experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract, clean criminal record check

Job Duties:
• Supervision, coordination and assignment and quality control of all maintenance activities for units under the management and/or ownership of the MHCHS, including recruitment, retention and discipline of maintenance staff and sub-contractors. Coordinates with the Lead Hand.
• Development, execution, management, and monitoring of the Maintenance Department budget, including expenditure coordination and reporting.
• Managing and monitoring Preventative and Planned Maintenance Programs for the property under the management and ownership of the MHCHS.
• Monitoring of emergency response procedures.
• Planning, managing and monitoring major capital improvement projects.
• Managing and maintain a vehicle fleet.
• Monitoring of ON Call emergency response procedures and 24/7 availability in the event of an emergency.
• Monitoring Staff development and performance through the Performance Planning and Review process.
• Effective coordination and communication with management team in organizational planning and development
